Twilight Sail are held on Friday evenings during the daylight savings months providing a great way to wind down after a busy week. Bring your own favourite wine or beer to sip on as you watch the sun setting over our magnificent coastline and towering mountains. On the return trip enjoy the twilight settling over Devonport and watch the Spirit of Tasmania turn in the river at close quarters.

Departure times for twilight/sunset sailings vary during the season in accordance with the lengthening and shortening of daylight hours. The general rule is approximately one and a half to two hours prior to sunset.

Shipping movements are often a highlight of these voyages.

Explore the Mersey River and the Port of Devonport from the deck of Devonport’s own tall ship, the Julie Burgess. Departing from our berth at 1:00 PM, on the second and fourth Wednesday each month, we will cruise down river to meet the sea. During the trip you will be able to explore the history of the development of the Port of Devonport, view the historic mansions of Victoria Parade as well as the current re-development of the Port to accommodate the new ferries. A great opportunity for a leisurely lunch, (BYO) while enjoying the scenery offered by the Mersey River and environs.

Explore Tasmania’s picturesque coastline from the deck of Devonport’s own historic tall ship the Julie Burgess.

The ship will leave its berth in Devonport giving passengers the opportunity to view the redevelopment of the port to accommodate the new Spirit of Tasmania ferries.  We will then proceed along the coast towards Port Sorell where you will have the opportunity to see the coast from a new perspective and ,if we’re lucky, some of Bass Strait’s range of sea and bird life.  Upon arrival, and subject to weather conditions we will explore this picturesque and historic harbour while enjoying a light lunch.  On both the outward and return journey you will be served with morning and afternoon tea.
